Seeing Is Believing

Ver para creer

Lèle loves pandas. He has seen pandas in books, and on TV too.

3

Grandma: Pandas are black and white, and bamboo is their favorite food. Lèle: I really want to see a real panda!

4

Dad: On Sunday, let's go to the zoo to see the pandas!

5

At the zoo, two pandas are climbing a tree. Lèle: Wow! The pandas are so big! And they can climb trees!

6

One panda loses its grip, slides down the tree, and rolls over on the ground. Lèle: Ha ha, pandas are so funny! The book never said that!

7

Dad: You see — hearing about something a hundred times isn't as good as seeing it once. Dad: That's "bǎi wén bù rú yí jiàn"!

8

All three languages have a saying that means much the same: Seeing is believing.

9

Chinese says: hearing a hundred times isn't as good as seeing once. English says: once you see it, you believe it. Spanish says: you have to see it to believe it. English and Spanish are almost the same — Chinese adds a number: one hundred!

10

Have you heard about the Great Wall, the ocean, or snow? Go and see for yourself — seeing is believing!
