The rain has just stopped and the ground is still wet. The sun comes out from behind the clouds.

Acaba de parar la lluvia y el suelo sigue mojado. El sol sale de detrás de las nubes.

The Red Umbrella Girl folds her umbrella and turns around— there is a rainbow in the sky!

La Niña del Paraguas Rojo cierra su paraguas y se da vuelta… ¡hay un arcoíris en el cielo!

The rainbow curves like a bridge. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple… one stripe beside the next.

El arcoíris se curva como un puente. Rojo, naranja, amarillo, verde, azul, morado… una franja junto a otra.

Why do rainbows come after rain? Because when the rain stops, lots of tiny droplets are still floating in the air.

¿Por qué aparecen los arcoíris después de llover? Porque cuando para la lluvia, todavía flotan en el aire muchas gotitas.

Sunlight looks white, but it is hiding lots of colours inside.

La luz del sol parece blanca, pero por dentro esconde muchos colores.

Sunlight shines into the tiny droplets and gets split apart, red, yellow, blue… one colour after another comes running out.

La luz entra en las gotitas y se separa, rojo, amarillo, azul… los colores salen uno por uno.

When thousands and thousands of droplets all do this together, a rainbow appears in the sky.

Cuando miles y miles de gotitas hacen lo mismo a la vez, aparece un arcoíris en el cielo.

To see a rainbow, stand with your back to the sun. The sun behind you, the rainbow in front.
