He blows a big bubble and looks at it in the sun. It has red, yellow, green and purple on it, swirling around.

A bubble's skin is too thin to see — we can only see the colours on it. When sunlight shines on it, rings of colour appear.

He looks through his magnifying glass: the colours keep moving. That is because the skin is slowly getting thinner.
