Taking the High-Speed Train to Shanghai

En tren de alta velocidad a Shanghái

2

Me: Excuse me, where do I board the high-speed train to Shanghai? Staff: Platform five. Go straight ahead and take the escalator down.

Yo: Disculpe, ¿dónde se toma el tren de alta velocidad a Shanghái? Empleado: En el andén cinco. Siga recto y baje por la escalera eléctrica.

3

Me: Excuse me, this is my seat — car twelve, seat F. Āyí: Oh dear, sorry — I sat in the wrong seat!

Yo: Disculpe, este es mi asiento: vagón doce, asiento F. Āyí: ¡Ay, perdón, me senté en el lugar equivocado!

4

Āyí: Where are you headed? Me: I'm going to Shanghai. Āyí, are you going to Shanghai too? Āyí: Yes, I'm going to Shanghai to see my grandson.

Āyí: ¿A dónde va? Yo: Voy a Shanghái. Āyí, ¿usted también va a Shanghái? Āyí: Sí, voy a Shanghái a ver a mi nieto.

5

Me: Wow, the high-speed train is so fast! Āyí: Over three hundred kilometers an hour — even handier than flying!

Yo: ¡Vaya, qué rápido va el tren! Āyí: ¡Más de trescientos kilómetros por hora, más cómodo que el avión!

6

Attendant: Hello, would you like water or something to eat? Me: A bottle of water, please. How much is a bottle of water? Attendant: Three yuan a bottle.

Azafata: Buenas, ¿desea agua o algo de comer? Yo: Una botella de agua, por favor. ¿Cuánto cuesta la botella de agua? Azafata: Tres yuanes la botella.

7

Āyí: Here, have an orange! Me: Thank you, Āyí, that's very kind of you.

Āyí: ¡Tenga, cómase una mandarina! Yo: Gracias, Āyí, es usted muy amable.

8

Attendant: Attention passengers, we will soon arrive at Shanghai Hongqiao Station. Me: Āyí, we're almost in Shanghai!

Azafata: Señores pasajeros, en breve llegamos a la estación Shanghái Hongqiao. Yo: ¡Āyí, ya casi llegamos a Shanghái!

9

Āyí: Take care, and have a great time! Me: Thank you, Āyí! Look — here comes your grandson!

Āyí: ¡Cuídese y que se divierta mucho! Yo: ¡Gracias, Āyí! ¡Mire, ahí viene su nieto!
