A Small Car Accident

Un choque pequeño

2

Oh! Diego, are you okay? I'm okay. Mom, the car behind us hit us!

¡Ay! Diego, ¿estás bien? Estoy bien. ¡Mamá, el carro de atrás nos pegó!

3

Don't be scared. First I'll turn on the hazard lights and pull over to the side of the road.

No tengas miedo. Primero prendo las intermitentes y me orillo.

4

I'm so sorry! Are you okay? Is anyone hurt? We're okay. Nobody's hurt.

¡Perdón! ¿Están bien? ¿Hay alguien herido? Estamos bien. Nadie está herido.

5

Let's exchange information. Here's my driver's license and my insurance card. Sure, here's mine.

Vamos a intercambiar datos.

6

Can I take a picture of your license, your insurance card, and your license plate? Sure. I'll write down my phone number for you, too.

7

I also need to take pictures of both cars. Mom, the back bumper has a dent.

8

I was driving too fast. My insurance will pay for it. Okay. I'll call my insurance company today.

Yo iba muy rápido. Mi seguro lo va a pagar. Está bien. Hoy le llamo a mi aseguradora.

9

Hi, I need to report an accident. I have pictures and the other driver's information. Great. You did everything right.

10

Good to know: after a small accident, first check if anyone is hurt. If someone is hurt, call 911 right away. If it's safe, turn on your hazard lights and pull over. Exchange names, phone numbers, license, insurance, and plate numbers, and take pictures of both cars. Don't argue about whose fault it was. In California, if anyone is hurt or the damage is over $1,000, you must report it to the DMV within ten days.
