Before you do something, ask politely first: "Is it okay if I…?" What if the boss says no? Then say "Okay, no problem," and ask again later.

Antes de hacer algo, pregunten con cortesía: «¿Está bien si…?». ¿Y si el jefe dice que no? Entonces digan «Está bien, no hay problema», y pregunten más tarde.

Is it okay if I take my ten-minute break now? Sure, it's not busy right now.

Good to know: ask politely: "Is it okay if I…?" If the answer is no, say "Okay, no problem," and ask when would be better. Some things are your right, even without asking: in California, when it's hot, you can drink water and rest in the shade. Using the bathroom is your right, too.

Dato útil: pregunte con cortesía: «¿Está bien si…?». Si le dicen que no, diga «Está bien, no hay problema» y pregunte cuándo sería mejor. Hay cosas que son su derecho aunque no pregunte: en California, cuando hace calor, puede tomar agua y descansar en la sombra. Usar el baño también es su derecho.
