Covering Ears While Stealing a Bell

从前有个小偷看见一口大钟。

Long ago, a thief saw a big bell.

Hace mucho tiempo, un ladrón vio una gran campana.

钟太重了，他背不动。

The bell was too heavy for him to carry.

La campana era demasiado pesada para que la cargara.

他想把钟敲碎再拿走。

He wanted to break it and take it away.

Quería romperla y llevársela.

他一敲，钟响得很远很远。

When he struck it, the bell rang very far away.

Cuando la golpeó, la campana sonó muy, muy lejos.

他吓了一跳，赶快捂住耳朵。

He was startled and quickly covered his ears.

他想：我听不见，别人也一样。

He thought: If I cannot hear it, no one else can.

But everyone else heard it.

一下子就把他抓住了。

They caught him right away.
