星期天，逛菜摊

水果是甜的，蔬菜不甜。

Fruit is sweet; vegetables are not.

La fruta es dulce; las verduras no.

可是蔬菜的样子，一个比一个好玩。

But each vegetable is a stranger shape than the last.

Pero cada verdura tiene una forma más curiosa que la otra.

星期天的菜摊，菜刚洗过。

At the Sunday stall the greens have just been rinsed.

En el puesto del domingo, las verduras acaban de lavarse.

一捆一捆，还在滴水。

Bundle after bundle, still dripping.

Manojo tras manojo, todavía escurren agua.

胡萝卜长长的，一头粗，一头尖。

A carrot is long — thick at one end, pointed at the other.

La zanahoria es larga: gruesa de un lado, puntiaguda del otro.

上面还留着一把绿叶子。

A tuft of green leaves is still attached on top.

Arriba todavía tiene un manojo de hojas verdes.

大白菜一层包着一层。

A cabbage is layer wrapped around layer.

El repollo es capa sobre capa.

剥开一层，里面还有一层。

Peel one off and there is another underneath.

Quitas una y debajo hay otra.

西兰花像一棵小树。

Broccoli looks like a little tree.

El brócoli parece un arbolito.

上面一朵一朵，挤在一起。

The florets crowd together on top.

Los ramilletes se apretujan arriba.

蘑菇像一把小伞。

A mushroom looks like a little umbrella.

Un hongo parece un paraguas pequeño.

下面一片一片，都是细细的褶。

Underneath, fine gills fan out one after another.

Por debajo, las láminas se abren una tras otra.

青椒圆圆的，绿绿的。

A green pepper is round and green.

El pimiento es redondo y verde.

切开才知道，里面是空的。

Cut it open and you find it is hollow.

Al cortarlo descubres que por dentro está hueco.

土豆圆圆的，身上都是小坑。

A potato is round and dented all over.

La papa es redonda y llena de hoyitos.

洗干净以前，还带着一点泥。

Before it is washed it still carries a little soil.

Antes de lavarla, todavía trae un poco de tierra.

盘子里的菜吃完了，只剩下一样。

The plate is cleared except for one thing.

El plato está vacío salvo por una cosa.
