Las apariencias engañan

A new neighbor has moved in downstairs.

He's very tall, with a big beard, and there's a dragon drawn on his arm.

Lèle: Grandma, he looks so fierce! I'm a little scared.

Lèle: ¡Abuela, se ve muy bravo! Me da un poco de miedo.

3

The new neighbor also has a big black dog.

Lèle: That dog is so big — it must bite!

One day, Lèle's kite gets stuck in a tree.

He can't reach it, and he's so upset he's about to cry.

The bearded man walks over, reaches up, and takes the kite right down.

Uncle: Cotton Candy, sit!

Señor: ¡Algodón de Azúcar, sentado!

Lèle: Thank you! Its name is… Cotton Candy?

Lèle: ¡Gracias, señor! ¿Se llama… Algodón de Azúcar?

6

Uncle: That's right! It loves it when kids rub its tummy.

Lèle: Cotton Candy, you're so soft!

Lèle: ¡Algodón de Azúcar, qué suavecito eres!

7

The next day, the bearded man brings over a plate of little panda buns.

It turns out he's a baker!

¡Resulta que es panadero!

Grandma: You see? You can't judge people by their looks — or dogs either!

Abuela: ¿Ves?
