Me: Hi, I'd like to get a SIM card.

Yo: Hola, quiero sacar una tarjeta SIM.

店员：好的。请给我看一下您的护照。

Clerk: Sure. May I see your passport?

Empleado: Claro. ¿Me permite su pasaporte?

我：给你，这是我的护照。

Me: Here you go, this is my passport.

Yo: Aquí tiene, este es mi pasaporte.

店员：您想要什么样的套餐？

Clerk: What kind of plan would you like?

Empleado: ¿Qué tipo de plan quiere?

我：「套餐」是什么意思？

Me: What does "tàocān" mean?

Yo: ¿Qué significa "tàocān"?

店员：套餐就是每个月的电话和流量。

Clerk: A plan is your calls and data for each month.

Empleado: Un plan son sus llamadas y datos de cada mes.

店员：这个套餐每个月五十九块，有三十G流量。

Clerk: This plan is 59 yuan a month, with 30 GB of data.

Empleado: Este plan cuesta 59 yuanes al mes, con 30 GB de datos.

我：三十G流量够用吗？

Me: Is 30 GB of data enough?

Yo: ¿Me alcanzan 30 GB de datos?

店员：一般人够用了。

Clerk: It's enough for most people.

Empleado: Para la mayoría, sí alcanza.

我：好，我要这个套餐。号码可以自己选吗？

Me: OK, I'll take this plan. Can I choose my own number?

Yo: Bien, quiero este plan. ¿Puedo elegir el número?

店员：可以，您看看这些号码。

Clerk: Yes, have a look at these numbers.

Empleado: Sí, mire estos números.

我：我不要四，听说「四」不吉利。我要有八的号码。

Me: I don't want any fours — I hear four is unlucky. I want a number with eights.

Yo: No quiero cuatros, dicen que el cuatro trae mala suerte. Quiero un número con ochos.

店员：哈哈，您真懂中国！这个号码有三个八。

Clerk: Ha ha, you really know China! This number has three eights.

Empleado: ¡Ja, ja, usted sí conoce China! Este número tiene tres ochos.

店员：请您在这儿签个名，再拍一张照片。

Clerk: Please sign here, and then we'll take a photo.

Empleado: Firme aquí, por favor, y luego le tomamos una foto.

我：好的，签名，拍照片。

Me: OK — sign, then a photo.

Yo: Bien: firmar y la foto.

Clerk: All done — the SIM card is in. Try making a call.

Empleado: Listo, ya está puesta la tarjeta. Pruebe a hacer una llamada.

我：喂？电话通了！谢谢你！

Me: Hello? The call went through! Thank you!

Yo: ¿Bueno? ¡Ya funciona! ¡Gracias!

小知识：在中国办手机卡，一定要带护照，要用真名登记。

Good to know: to get a SIM card in China you must bring your passport — every number is registered under your real name.

Dato útil: para sacar una tarjeta SIM en China hay que llevar el pasaporte; cada número se registra con el nombre real.

很多中国人喜欢「八」，不喜欢「四」：「八」听起来像「发」，「四」听起来像「死」。

Many Chinese people love 8 and avoid 4: "eight" (bā) sounds like "prosper" (fā), and "four" (sì) sounds like "death" (sǐ).

A muchos chinos les gusta el 8 y evitan el 4: "ocho" (bā) suena como "prosperar" (fā), y "cuatro" (sì) como "muerte" (sǐ).
